For a Catholic funeral Mass, the following selections are needed:

1 reading from the Old Testament (During the Easter season, a New Testament reading may be chosen. Easter runs from Easter Sunday through Pentecost.)

1 Responsorial Psalm 

1 reading from the New Testament

1 Gospel reading - the priest chooses this reading

4 Hymns: 1 opening song, 1 song during Preparation of Gifts (bread & wine), 1 Communion song, 1 closing song.

For each of the readings, other than the Gospel, please have someone prepared to read. If there are no relatives or friends who would like to read, we will be happy to choose a volunteer from the parish who is trained for this ministry.

What to expect from the Rosary: 

When the priest comes out, the casket will be closed. Please be prepared to close the casket and the process you would prefer for this. After that, the rosary will begin. Once the rosary is completed, the priest will bless the body. With the conclusion of the blessing, based on the families preference, the podium is open for eulogies. The completion of the euologies signals the end of the rosary. 

Imporant information to note: 

• Floral Deliveries can be made on day of service (prior to service) or please contact church for alternative dates/times.
• Family is responsible for musicians/musical arrangements
• A Eulogy if prepared, is read at the rosary (usually 7pm the night before the funeral).  At the end of the funeral liturgy in the church, the priest or deacon may permit one family member or friend to speak in remembrance of the deceased and his/her life of faith, virtue and good works. (if discussed with the parish in advance). It also is important to note that words of remembrance are optional and that the most appropriate times for offering them are at the vigil/wake or the post-funeral reception. During a funeral, our praise is directed toward God in gratitude for the Risen Christ and his promise of salvation.
• Our parish grounds may be rented for receptions following Mass, if available. We do not have a hospitality committee for catering or set-up, so this will be the responsibility of the family. 
• A $250 stipend is kindly requested. Funeral services will never be refused to anyone who is unable to afford them.
